The Lakota people achieve balance and happiness in everyday life with these 12 Lakota Values. 1) Humility, 2) Perseverance, 3) Respect, 4) Honor, 5) Love, 6) Sacrifice, 7) Truth, 8) Compassion, 9) Bravery, 10) Fortitude, 11) Generosity, and 12) Wisdom. The greatest of these is Love. Our whole universe exists because Love is the motivation of all creation. Love is the strongest of all emotions and rules over all things. The most important of these values is family. My family provides me to learn and teach these 12 Lakota Values. To this day My mother is the strength of our family. As all my life she has been my greatest teacher. Georgette Yells Eagle is the oldest of 3. Born July 11, 1941 to Amos and Susie Bettelyoun. She moved in to her home in 1963. She is a retired government employee. Sewing Star Quilts has always been her hobby. When asked what she values most. She replied, “My Children”.
